Serenity

"This artwork, Serenity, is a part of a collection that is connected to the theme of sustainability. I incorporated felt textile waste scraps from New York City, into this painting. As a neurodiverse/neurospicy person, I am especially sensitive to fabric textures due to the hypersensitivity I experience with touch. The soft felt scraps that I cut, sewed and assembled in this painting, just felt very satisfying to touch. Something about the feel of the fibers and the colors made me feel grounded. I experience a trance-like state when I am fully present in my meditative painting process. Although I experience chronic pain and fatigue everyday, I felt my muscles relax, breathing slow down and mind become quiet as I created this painting. When I look deeply at it, I feel a gentle warmth. My Serenity painting reminds me to not get stuck in the past or future,---and to practice being fully present in the moment."
