Sea Breeze at Sunset

"This artwork, Sea Breeze at Sunset, is a part of a collection that is connected to the theme of sustainability. I incorporated textile waste scraps from New York City into this painting. I cut, sewed and painted the fabric scraps to make organic shapes. As I applied layers of orange paint, I recalled specific memories of my visits to beaches. I recalled multiple memories as I created this painting.I I remembered the golden light at sunset, the orange glow of the sky and the salty sea breezes that caress my skin when I visited Tulum, Mexico and Negril, Jamaica. The turquoise blue color I added to this paintedI reminded me of the first time I ever saw the sea/ocean when I was 19 years old. I was on a professional singing tour in Italy with an acapella group from Colorado College. The choir director learned that I had never seen the ocean/sea before. So he took our group on a detour to Pescara, Italy. It is a beautiful coastal city on the Adriatic Sea. I remember walking directly into the sea with my dress on, because I was so happy to see the expansiveness of the sea. It was so easy to float on the water due to the salt content. Sea Breeze at Sunset, reminds me about these memories about calls to adventures, fulfilling dreams and the happiness that the ocean, sea and beach can bring to my wellbeing."
