Lotus in Bloom

Artist Quána Madison created Lotus in Bloom in response to her Buddhist and Hindu studies about the meaning of the lotus flower. In this work, she represented the lotus flower as silhouettes of her body seated in the lotus position. Quána's chronic pain usually prevents her from sitting comfortably in the seated lotus position. Creating art visualizing her energy body in lotus has been a regular meditation practice for years. She began creating abstract lotus art when her autoimmune disease developed. Quána invites viewers to reflect on their journey of growth, healing, and self-discovery. This work is meant to be a reminder, that like the lotus, we are all in a state of becoming—rising, unfolding, and blooming toward our highest potential. Quána wants to remind viewers that they can rise above challenges and bloom into their fullest potential.
