Green Spotted Puffer: Curious for Colors 2

"I started this painting as an experiment with alcohol inks and modeling paste. I was worried about my Pufferfish – aptly named Puffy. I'm passionate about every one of my pets. Puffy was my homebound companion for nearly 14 Years. He was with me through the full range of ups and downs that come with life in your late teens, 20s, and early 30s. At the time of this painting, I was incredibly worried for his health, and I knew he may be nearing his time. He was simply on my mind often those days. Of course, I needed to occupy my mind. It’s always spinning at 700 miles per hour. I've always felt that I couldn't give Puffy the best life he deserved. I could see his mind spinning, too; spinning with the need to explore, with the need to satisfy his curiosity. It's something I can relate to. For as long as I can remember, I've felt a burning desire to travel & explore the world. Wanderlust was my favorite word for a time. I could see the same anxious desire in Puffy. I also felt caged; except for me, it was my own doing. With this painting, I wanted to imagine Puffy as the curious, freedom-loving fish he was."
