Beethoven Series Symphony No 5 in C minor Op 67: II Andante con Moto
"The 2nd movement was one of the more difficult movement to paint. When I heard it, I immediately went into dark rich colors. I was afraid of making it too dark and what would become of it? The more I listen to it and its passage, I have begun to understand where it took us musically. About 3/4 of the way into the music you come across this beautiful Waltz. the instruments lighten up and begin to have this airy like twirl the goes on for a mere 60 sec or so. It was this particular passage for this painting. It was as if the entire 2nd movement was setting up the color and mood for the that particular piece to be played. The colors used in this painting was one of my favorite blue, Prussian blue. I began in the center left corner and battled with the strong threshold of the march like sounds that soften over time. The deep rich pryole red followed by Prussian blue. The more I listened and followed the music, I ended up creating a ballroom. I was so deep in the Prussian blue landscape that the bottom half of the canvas at the time of making was very dark. When the waltz played, it was a breath of fresh colors that swirled the entire landscape and I was once again liven to complete this masterpiece."
