"The under layer is an acrylic painting of abstract blues. During the process of adding the acrylic painted cut pieces, I went through a number of different directions. Especially after I had started gluing some of the pieces that became permanent. The method of placing the pieces dry allows the option of changing what is there, but the pieces that are permanent dictate the path. This was a challenging piece due to the fact that I became unsure that the red or other colors were going to work. The painted pieces are not pre-painted for the individual paintings. They are pieces of older paintings on paper that I am recycling/reusing. That means looking for the colors that you want to add to the underpainting, not painting it and then adding. A much harder challenge but I always say go with the flow."
