"Quintessential Color Fields was initially undertaken as a creative stretch. I wanted to work in a format
larger than that which is customary or comfortable, to use more saturated warm colors, and to retain blocks
or fields of color within the design itself. Lastly, I wanted to accomplish this creative stretch while
still remaining true to myself and my own quintessential "voice" as an artist.
I completed his painting along with many others during a concentrated creative outburst in the early spring
through autumn of 2020. Besides the momentum and exhilaration of the creative process, art also served as a
refuge from the anxiety and uncertainties of the first wave and lockdown of the pandemic."
