Mojave Desert III
"This year I have been living and working part-time in Las Vegas, Nevada. During the winter and spring I traveled around the southwest exploring the Mojave Desert in Nevada, California, Utah and Arizona. I have been inspired by spiky cactus, blowing sand, hummingbirds and the big sky. I start each painting by drawing and painting these elements. Then I begin to add paint in softer colors: my desert colors. And I use wider brushes for big marks like the big winds that blow! I think the desert is magical: beautiful but also a place to be very careful. I think my Mojave Desert paintings are magical, too!"
