Land That I've Heard Of

"This sculptural painting series is inspired by the philosophy of rebuilding through rupture, much like the Japanese pottery process, "kintsugi", where broken pieces are not hidden but transformed into something new and more meaningful. By layering, folding, and reassembling torn pieces of canvas, the work reflects a personal process of gathering fragmented parts of my life and reshaping them into a renewed form. Rather than returning to what once was, each piece embraces imperfection, memory, and change revealing that beauty can emerge through disruption and that reinvention is a powerful form of healing. Each shape, form, and color palette is intuitively and organically developed, guided by memories of specific moments/travels. This particular piece was inspired by my visits to the beautiful islands of Hawaii- its green mountains, fiery volcanos and turqiouse oceans."
