Hollyhocks #2

"Layers of vintage paper distressed, which creates some porosity for layers of watered down acrylic. Charcoal, colored pencils and pastels added at a final stage. The big blossoms and leaves of the Hollyhock remind me of the 70's pattern on our bedsheets growing up. Adding the use of vintage paper and distressing the surface creates a diffuse quality to the memory, like an old house with peeling wallpaper and sunlight streaming through clouded windows."

- Elizabeth Hilton
