“My work explores movement — not only the movement of the body, but the inner
movement that shapes who we become.”

Geneviève Hallé’s journey as an artist is rooted in resilience, movement, and
transformation. Diagnosed with severe scoliosis as a teenager, she developed an early
determination to stay active, first through gymnastics and later through snowboarding, a
sport that gave her a profound sense of freedom and identity.

After studying graphic design, she moved to Whistler where she balanced her creative
career with competitive snowboarding. During the qualifying round of the 2001 US
Open, a life-changing fall resulted in a spinal cord injury and a diagnosis of paraplegia.
Faced with this sudden shift, Geneviève approached her new reality with the mindset of
an athlete — as a challenge to adapt to rather than a limitation to accept.

Returning to Whistler, she continued to pursue both design and adaptive sports,
including skiing and mountain biking. This period shaped her enduring belief that
resilience is built through movement, adaptation, and the courage to redefine what is
possible.

While creativity had always been part of her life, painting became increasingly central
during her rehabilitation. Through art, she found a new way to express motion, emotion,
and personal evolution. Today, her work explores themes of inner movement,
transformation, and renewal- visual reflections of the invisible forces that shape who
we become.

Influenced by her background in graphic design, Geneviève’s work combines structured
abstraction with organic forms inspired by nature, water, and the human experience.
Her collections often explore the emotional landscapes of resilience, healing, and
forward movement, inviting viewers to reflect on their own journeys of growth and
change.

Beyond her artistic practice, Geneviève is also committed to improving accessibility and
representation. She co-created Be Wheeling, a platform offering adapted workout
resources for people with reduced mobility, reflecting her belief that movement exists in
many forms.

Through her art, Geneviève seeks to share not only beauty, but possibility- showing
that transformation is not defined by what happens to us, but by how we continue to
move forward.

She is excited to continue sharing her work through ArtLifting while contributing to a
broader conversation about resilience, creativity, and inclusion.
