Still Life

The genre of still life has a long artistic history, spanning many cultures and time periods. Maybe the most well-known artworks within the genre are the highly detailed  15th and 16th century Dutch still lifes featuring fruit, candles, table settings, and other objects of upper-class life. Now, the messages of contemporary still lifes are often in conversation with their famous art historical predecessors.
