Materials: Wax, acrylic paint, and mineral pigments on smoothly finished paper. Varnish.
Process: I create a wax rubbing from objects placed under the surface paper, here creating buildings. I then add layers of color washes. I lift off some paint with dry paper creating surprising effects. This blotting technique created the flying bird. I add minerals and varnish.
Narrative: The cityscape is architecturally structured on stationary grids. I watch the airplanes , helicopters, and birds fly by. The atmosphereis invisibly electromagnetically charged, silentlypreparing to give birth to megalithic change. A paradox of stability and change.
This painting is representative of the period during which Iresided on the 12th floor of the highrise Watermark Kendall West (WKW), Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA (2008-2017). WKW and the building across the canal seemed to be the still eyes in a hurricane as buildings continuously sprung up around me. I watched and waited as the birds still flew over the canal.
Both "Flight" and "Watermark" refer to Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA.

Elizabeth works with liquid watercolors, inks, acrylic paints, pastels, wax, paper, used materials, pigments and minerals. Her art reflects inner psychological workings, spiritual concepts, emotions and feelings. They illustrate the beauty of nature, or commemorate cosmic and life events. She writes, "I like to add the pigments and minerals to the surface because to me, the shimmery surface evokes the etheric-spiritual aspect of art and life.”
